Stop Comparing yourself! Lessons from an Olympian

Issue #3

What You Have In Common With An Olympic Gold Medalist

It’s time for the Winter Olympics, which I absolutely love! So many sports I would never even attempt to try! But I love the stories and the inspiration!

Have you ever met an Olympic athlete? Wondered if you have any in common?

Honestly? There's more in common than you would expect.

A few months ago, I was at a small business owners conference and one of the panels was Olympic athletes. At first I was like, “Wait… how did we go from cash flow to gold medals?” But five minutes in, it clicked.

Because the overlap is real:

  • Mindset under pressure
  • Putting in reps when nobody’s watching
  • Building confidence (even after success)
  • Resilience when you’re tired, unsure, or in your head
  • Performing when the spotlight is on and the stakes are high

That’s why I’m so excited for you to hear my episode with Charlotte Worthington—British Olympic gold medalist in BMX, and the definition of calm confidence with a little edge.

What surprised me most? Even someone who’s literally been the best in the world still deals with:

  • self-doubt
  • comparison
  • the mental spiral of “am I good enough?”

And then add the extra layers: a male-dominated sport + an individual competition (no team to hide behind, no shared pressure) + the kind of risk that comes with doing a 360 spin on a bike like it’s no big deal. Charlotte is real, grounded, and yes… an absolute badass.

In this episode we talk about:

  • How confidence is built through action
  • What it takes to stay steady when it matters most
  • How to stop letting comparison steal your focus
  • The mindset shifts that translate directly to leadership and business

If you’ve been in a season where you’re stretching, growing, or feeling the pressure… this one will hit. No BMX bike required!

At the start of my career, I was a hustler. (Of course... I still am, 25 years later)! I was constantly going above and beyond, raising my hand, taking on more, contributing, adding value. And for a while, that seemed to work. I got promotions. I got pay increases. It felt like effort and results were lining up. Until they weren’t. At one point, my responsibilities kept growing, but the recognition stopped. No title change. No meaningful pay increase. Just... crickets. Meanwhile, new people...

We’re turning up the volume! Loud & Lifted is now launching a monthly, in-person circle for real support, practical strategy, and forward momentum. Leading is heavy, and women are often carrying the job and the emotional labor without enough support. This is your monthly reset: perspective, strategy, and encouragement with women who get it. You’ll leave every meeting with one clear action, and a circle of peers who help you follow through. What You'll Get A small, trusted group of women...

Intuition, Precision, and Cutting Through the Noise Hey friends— Through the first year of Loud & Lifted, we’ve lived in the “professional development” lane. Which I love. Give me the frameworks, the tools, the assessments, the action plans. But if I’m being honest… I’ve always had one foot in the holistic, spiritual side too. I do yoga. I try to meditate (emphasis on try). I’ve burned sage more than once to clear out the bad vibes. And yes, I have absolutely wandered into a crystal shop...
